Prior to departing to a pre-designated area overseas, all Airmen must visit the 4th Logistic Readiness Squadron mobility bag unit to receive their personal protective equipment whether it is real-world or a base exercise.

The mobility bag unit is responsible for inspecting and maintaining an up-to-date inventory of deployment bag items. Before an exercise, all Charlie-bag items are pulled out, separated by size and set up for assembly-line distribution. Chemical suits are inspected for an air-tight seal package, boots are checked for holes and tears, gloves are examined to ensure the inserts are accounted for; and expiration dates on canisters, M-8 paper and M-9 tape are also reviewed.

Also included in C-bags are the new individual first aid kits. After the kits are received from the manufacturer, the 4th Medical Group medical logistic technicians go through each kit to account for all items and they are up-to-date. Once the check is complete, the kits are tagged with the log numbers, inventory and date inspected; zip-tied shut and sent to 4th LRS for distribution.

The 4th LRS provides all Airmen with the equipment needed to survive, maintain and fight the overseas contingency operations.
