The Berkley and Olympic pools are open for weekend swimming Memorial Day weekend, just as the first day of summer creeps near and the days begin to heat up.

The Berkley pool hours of operation are from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 29-31 and June 5-6. The Olympic pool hours of operation are from 1-6 p.m. May 29-31 and June 5-6.

Effective June 10, the Olympic pool officially opens for the season from 1-6 p.m. Thursday through Tuesday. The Olympic pool is also open to adults for lap swim, from 6:30-8 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. There is no charge for lap swimming during these times.

Effective June 11, the Berkley pool opens 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Monday.

Both pools are open to all military, retirees, Department of Defense civilians and their families, said Gail Hall, Outdoor Recreation assistant. A daily pool pass costs $4. Season passes begin at $50 for a single person and cost $15 for each additional family member.

The Mommy and Me Baby Pool Pass program provides mothers and a child under age 5 season access to only the baby pools for $25. The seasonal cost for each additional child under age 5 is $10. If a mother wants to purchase a month-long Mommy and Me pass, the cost is $10, with an extra charge of $5 for each additional child under 5. Neither the child nor parent may use any other pool with this pass.

"Come check out the fun," Mrs. Hall said. "We have two nice and clean pools. Both of them are available for private party reservations."
