The Airman and Family Readiness Center is hosting a Heartlink event from 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. May 13 in the Community Center Terrace Room.

The theme for this event is "Saluting the military spouse."

"Heartlink is a program designed for spouses to be orientated to the Air Force and Seymour Johnson," said Jim Bergman, A&FRC community readiness consultant and family life program manager. "It is an interactive workshop where spouses learn about base programs, resources and Air Force terminology."

The event, which is open to any spouse, especially those new to the military way of life, includes a base mission brief, an overview of base organizations and their functions, and a briefing from Col. Patrick Doherty, the 4th Fighter Wing commander, the protocol, personnel, finance and military family life consultant offices. Participants also learn about deployments and readiness and their importance.

After the briefings, attendees can participate in a guided base tour.

"Heartlink is the opportunity for spouses to connect to the unique community of the military," Mr. Bergman said. "This is not only a link for those who serve, but for the families of those who serve."

Pre-register for the event no later than May 11 by calling the A&FRC at 722-1123.
