New Air Force legal assistance Web site Published April 13, 2010 By 4th Fighter Wing Legal Office SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- The Air Force JAG Corps unveiled the new Air Force Legal Assistance Web site Feb. 1. The site is open to active duty and reserve component members, retirees, and their dependents from the comfort of their homes without the need of a common access card. Many clients visit a legal office to obtain a will or other legal documents and realize after arriving they need to gather more information or documents from home. Sometimes clients realize they need to speak with their spouse about an issue. Completing an online worksheet can minimize multiple visits. By completing an online worksheet, clients can consider critical issues online prior to visiting the legal office. An attorney and paralegal can access a client's data with their ticket number, reducing the amount of information the client must bring and helping to streamline the process. The site features: · Legal topics: Short papers on common legal topics such as wills and family law. It also links to other helpful Web sites. · Legal worksheets: Access to online questionnaires to help with the creation of wills, living wills and powers of attorney. After completing an online worksheet, the site provides clients a unique "ticket number." Data entered by clients is secure and accessible when clients visit their local legal office and provide their ticket numbers to legal office personnel. · Online survey: Following a visit to the legal office, clients are encouraged to revisit the Web site and provide feedback concerning the professionalism and helpfulness of our legal professionals. While the Web site increases convenience for clients, customers should note: · Information on the site is for educational and informational purposes only. The Web site cannot replace a consultation with a JAG, Airmen should never solely rely on the site when making decisions. · Clients will not have the ability to print a legal document from the Web site. To obtain legal documents, customers must visit the legal office. · Legal customers are not required to visit the Web site before making a legal appointment.
