The Kinston Indians' season opener took place at the Grainger Stadium here April 8, 2010.

The Indians are the advanced Class-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. The team played their first game against the Winston-Salem Dash, the advanced Class-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox.

Staff Sgt. Christopher Edwards, 336th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron crew chief, threw out the game's ceremonial first pitch. The 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Band from Marine Corps Air Station, New River then played the national anthem with a flyover performed by the 336th Fighter Squadron.

The Indians season ends in September. Outdoor recreation offers discount tickets to military ID card holders. In addition, season ticket packages are available at a 50 percent savings from regular single-game ticket prices at the stadium.
