The 4th Civil Engineer Squadron would like to remind base personnel of their obligation to recycle and conserve natural resources and encourage everyone to take an active role in this process.

In North Carolina, cardboard is banned from landfills and a new state law also prohibits placing any plastic bottles, wood pallets and oil filters in municipal landfills.

The blue containers located around the base are for all recyclables except for cardboard. Members in military family housing should place all recyclables in their blue roll-carts, except cardboard. No separation of recyclable products is necessary in the blue containers. Specific for cardboard, there are 11 green cardboard dumpsters on base.

The Auto Skills/Hobby Shop is the only place on base personnel can change their own oil. They have containers designated for disposal of used oil filters.

Everyone should double their efforts to ensure recyclables like office paper, newsprint, magazines, mixed paper, plastic containers, plastic bottles, aluminum cans and steel cans go into blue containers. Ensure you and those around you are doing their part and help Seymour Johnson AFB continue to lead the charge in environmental awareness in Air Combat Command.
