The stage is set, the house lights dim, and the audience grows quiet as the melodic sounds from a live band fill the room and singers enter the stage - Tops in Blue is back in town.

Audience members lined the sidewalk waiting to enter the Paramount theater for the one-night, free performance open to the entire community in downtown Goldsboro, N.C., Feb. 1, 2010.

Tops in Blue is the Air Force's premiere expeditionary entertainment unit. Team members are active-duty Airmen selected for their outstanding vocal, musical and other entertainment skills. The team performs worldwide, even at remote and deployed locations. While entertaining, they simultaneously promote community relations, support recruiting efforts and serve as ambassadors for the U.S. Air Force.

The group has been a part of the Air Force for 56 years. The entertainment team has 16 vocalist, 10 musicians and nine technical crew members who perform more than 120 shows a year. When Airmen finish their yearlong tour with Tops in Blue, they return to their home station.
