Team Seymour honors fallen Airman

SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. --  The dignified transfer of a fallen Airman took place on the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base flight line Jan. 25.

Tech. Sgt. Adam Ginett, a Knightdale, N.C., native, died Jan. 19 near Kandahar Air Field, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered from an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 31st Civil Engineer Squadron explosive ordnance disposal flight, Aviano Air Base, Italy.

"A dignified transfer is our way of showing the family how much their Airman's service is valued," said Tech. Sgt. Stacey Hines, noncommissioned officer in charge of Honor Guard. "This brought the war to our doorstep and is the least we can do for Ginnet who paid the ultimate sacrifice."

Ginett's family was on hand to witness the ceremony along with base leadership and other EOD service members.

Along the transport route to the main gate, Airmen lined the streets to pay their respects to Ginett by providing final salutes to their fallen comrade.

Before leaving the base, more than 80 members of the Patriot Guard Riders joined to lead the procession.

Patriot Guard Riders is a motorcycle organization supporting those who risk their lives for America's freedom and security, according to the Web site, www.patriotguard.org. The riders attend funeral services of American heroes to show their respect for the fallen and also shield the mourning family from interruptions.

Ginett will be laid to rest in Raleigh, N.C.
