Ghost, goblins, vampires, witches and even a grim reaper prowled Seymour Johnson Air Force Base during trick-or-treat hours, Oct. 31, 2009. Children of all ages took to the streets Halloween night visiting with friends, collecting candy and checking out houses decked in Halloween decorations.

Trick-or-treating was not the only activity going on at the base, the 4th Communications Squadron spooked those who visited the Halloween trail, at Kimpo Park, Oct. 28-31. The 4th Forces Support Squadron also coordinated multiple events leading up to Halloween.

More than 75 Airmen, civilians and family members attended and 47 participated in the pumpkin-carving event Oct. 29, at the community center. The child development center hosted a pumpkin patch Oct. 30, to children enrolled in the CDC, family child care or youth programs. There was also a Pre-Halloween Block Party behind Planet Bowl, Oct. 30, where the announcement of the community center's pumpkin carving event winners was made. Mrs. Linda Edsall-Huard, 4th FSS deputy commander and her family won first place, while Nathan Amon, son of 4th FSS Tammy Amon, came in second place and Peyton Vecera, daughter of 4th Fighter Wing Staff Judge Advocate  Lt. Col. Michael Vecera and wife Beth, came in third place.
