More than 400 airmen were met by their families, friends and co-workers after arriving at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C., Sept. 9, 2009. The airmen from the 336th Fighter Squadron and 4th Maintenance Group spent four months at Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan providing close-air support and maintaining aircraft for Operation Enduring Freedom. The 336th pilots and weapons system operators flew more than 8,000 combat hours while in Afghanistan supported by 4th MXG maintainers. The pilots, WSOs, maintainers and support personnel of the 335th Fighter Squadron and 4th Maintenance Group will assume the job of monitoring the skies and protecting coalition servicemembers on the ground.
