"Exercise, exercise, exercise: We have a downed KC-135 on runway 26. Crew has evacuated, plane is engulfed in flames" is heard over the intercom overhead. Two fire trucks arrive on scene and water sprays toward the simulating burning aircraft on Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C. Firefighters jump from the trucks, dressed in silver fire suits complete with respirators, pulling hoses to the door of the downed aircraft.

The fire department here conducts live-fire exercises at simulated burning aircraft, ensuring they are prepared in the event a fire erupts on base.
