Due to construction on a dormitory here, many Airmen will be eligible to move off base sooner than previous regulations allowed.

Eligible Airmen include all senior airmen and airmen first class who are 23 and older, said Chief Master Sgt. Michael Garrou, 4th Civil Engineer Squadron chief enlisted manager.

The process will begin on a volunteer basis and will be at the discretion of immediate supervisors, squadron commanders and first sergeants. Airmen with documented financial or disciplinary issues may be required to remain in the dormitory, Chief Garrou said.

If the desired number of volunteers do not come forward, other Airmen will be given the chance.

The 4th Civil Engineer Squadron's unaccompanied housing manager Staff Sgt. William Wardley said he is optimistic about Airmen being able to move off-base sooner than they normally would, but stresses the importance of maintaining financial and moral responsibilities.

"Don't go and splurge your money just because you have it," he said. "Irresponsibility will land you back in the dorms."

Airmen can pick up the appropriate forms from dorm management in building 3652, room 113. For more information, Airmen can contact their first sergeant or the unaccompanied housing manager at (919) 722-7485.
