The 4th Fighter Wing will begin the Wingman Ride program here March 6.

"This program is being established to assist those individuals that have a plan A or B that fall through," said Master Sgt. Misty Plott, 4th Logistics Readiness Squadron. "Our program is based on Airmen helping Airmen."

Wingman Ride is sponsored by the Airman Against Drunk Driving program.

The call line will operate from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. every Friday and Saturday, and it is available to all active duty, dependants, retirees, and civil service workers, she said. The person requesting the ride will have to show the dispatcher their ID to prove their status.

Callers will be connected to a dispatcher who will come and pick them up, no questions asked. Names will not be given to their squadrons or first sergeants.

"They can pick up the phone and call 722-5633 and have a safe passage home with no repercussions," she said.

Anyone using the service will be required to work one night as a dispatcher to repay the person who picked them up.

The number to receive a ride is 919-722-5633.

"Our mission is to save lives and prevent DUIs," she said.

The program will also have a council. To join, attend the election meeting March 18 at 3 p.m. in the 4th Mission Support Group headquarters conference room. For more information about Wingmen Ride, call Sergeant Misty Plott at 919-722-5237.
