Team Seymour men's softball team dominated the Annual Early Bird Tournament held at Fort Bragg April 25 to 26 for the second consecutive year, winning all five games. Out of the 21 teams that played, they were the only Air Force team in the entire tournament.

The "mercy rule" came into play throughout the tournament as Team Seymour outscored their opponents, 108-26 in the five games. They won their first round game Friday night by a score of 33-14 in just four innings, incurring the 15-run rule.

Seymour Johnson players continued their explosive display of offensiveness during Saturday's morning game with a convincing 27-5 win in just three innings of play, and another 15-run rule. They showed that not only offense, but defense can win games as they held their opponent to only one run and made it three games in a row with the 15-run mercy rule, 17-1.

During the semi-finals, Team Seymour fell short of the 15-run rule, but still ruled with an 18-4 victory to put them in the championship game against Code Red (Fort Bragg's base team) Saturday night. Even though they scored their fewest points of the tournament, they never let up in the championship game as they beat Code Red, 13-2.

"The championship game was completely dominated by Shady J," said Army Specialist Jeffrey Field, 189th Infantry Public Affairs Office. "They did something that no one else has come close to doing; they 10-run ruled Code Red."

William "Skeeter" Johnson, 4th Equipment Maintenance Squadron, led the way with a tournament batting average of .727. Adam McMichen, 4th Force Support Squadron, was close behind with a .708 batting average, followed by Ryan Feltz, 4th Security Forces Squadron, .696 and Mike Foster, 4th Contracting Squadron, with a .681.
