North Carolina residents will get to show their support and appreciation for the men and women of the armed forces assigned to all the military installations in the state during the Salute to our Troops event in Raleigh Saturday.

A formation of F-15E Strike Eagles from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base will fly over Fayetteville Street toward Halifax Mall to kick off the day's events. A parade with representation from each branch of the service to include current active duty and reserve family members and two Medal of Honor recipients will follow the flyover.

The parade will include various types of high-tech support equipment from each service including mobile artillery and missile launch systems, medical transport equipment and other tactical assets.

The parade will be just one of the attractions for the public. A static display area will include modern military equipment, five NASCAR show cars and food booths.

Seymour Johnson Airmen can contact their group chief for tickets entitling them to free pork sandwiches or hot dogs.

Outdoor Recreation provided 75 Carolina RailHawk tickets to members of team Seymour.

Airmen can show their military ID to receive free admission to the Marbles Kids Museum, N.C. Museum of Natural Science and the N.C. Museum of History. There will be a Vietnam photo expo at the N.C. Museum of History.

The initiative is supported by a growing number of local, state and national industries and companies. Additional information including discount hotel rates for military from April 25-27 is available at www.SaluteOurNCTroops.org.
