One stop shop: Consolidated C2S2, MPF aims for improved services Published Nov. 21, 2007 By Airman 1st Class Shane Dunaway 4th Fighter Wing Public Affairs SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- All co-located commander's support staffs, or C2S2s, are scheduled to realign with the military personnel flight here by Dec. 7. "Many items are being combined or consolidated to provide one-stop shopping, placing like services in the same locations where possible," said Major Derrick Floyd, military personnel flight commander. The mission support and operations groups' C2S2s have already made this transition. The personnel career field has taken significant cuts in the past four years in order to support the Air Force's recapitalization efforts, Major Floyd said. Realignment allows for less stress on manning while providing necessary personnel services for all Airmen. The military personnel flight is responsible for more than 241 personnel programs for Airmen, dependents and retirees in the local area. "Airmen will receive better, more efficient and responsive service as manpower has increased," Major Floyd said. Along with faster service, the military personnel flight adds new programs and also brings information technology solutions to the fight, increasing the availability of personnel products and applications to the member and commanders by allowing access 24 hours a day, seven days a week, he added. The hours of operation will also be extended, opening from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. "I think the C2S2 consolidation is a good thing for Seymour Johnson AFB," said Airman 1st Class Megan Curenton, who moved to the MPF from the MSG C2S2. "It will allow us to better serve customers more efficiently and effectively as well as allow customers to take care of many of their issues in one location." While the decision to move was independent from the imminent merger of the mission support and services squadrons into a new force support squadron, there will be future changes in the infrastructure of the MPF. Under the force support squadron that will stand up Feb. 4, the military personnel flight becomes the military personnel element, Major Floyd said.
