Wing shifts to paperless travel management system Published Dec. 8, 2006 4th Comptroller Squadron SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- Team Seymour has operated under the defense travel system for over a year. With a few mouse clicks, this online, paperless system allows Airmen to arrange travel electronically, change their itinerary before or during a trip and complete the voucher process upon return from travel. As with any new system or process there has been and continues to be a learning curve that users will encounter before they become completely proficient with DTS. The traveler's first avenue for help is their squadron's organizational defense travel administrator. The 4th Fighter Wing currently has 46 ODTAs trained and equipped to act as the first DTS point of contact. For assistance from an ODTA, refer to the list found at wwwmil.seymourjohnson.af.mil/fw/cpts/default.htm under the online resources tab. In addition, the DTS Web site, www.defensetravel.osd. mil, provides a number of resources to aid the traveler with common problems. Simulations and demonstrations enable first-time users to learn at their own pace. Web-based training addresses every aspect of DTS--from its most basic functions to advanced topics. To bridge the gap between the ODTAs and Web-based help, the 4th Comptroller Squadron's DTS office will be conducting open training classes. These classes will mainly focus on DTS fundamentals and will go over common problems experienced by the average traveler. The 4th CPTS DTS office is committed to providing each member with the resources needed to accomplish the mission. If you have any questions regarding DTS or need help beyond your ODTA, please call 722-5676.
