If you have ever considered throwing on your most extravagant outfit and strutting down the runway, the Fashion Club just might be for you.

As a newer club, the Make It Better initiative made it possible for the Fashion Club to already form some big plans for its members. Presently consisting of 35 members, the Fashion Club is open to military members, spouses, dependents and civilians.

"The Fashion Club was created with the help of my supervision, after relating past experiences with fashion clubs," said Airman 1st Class Laurie Acho, 4th Communications Squadron knowledge management center technician. "It was made with the mindset to create a judge-free society, where people can represent their personality through the way they dress."

The club is a web-based group whose members meet every first Sunday of the month at Eagles Landing to discuss upcoming events.

To expand the Fashion Clubs opportunities, there are two upcoming fashion shows. The first will be at Saint Patrick's Day festival with the Brewing Club, while the other event will be in October to raise awareness against abuse and suicide.

"We try to raise awareness about issues surrounding our society such as suicide, abuse, and mental awareness," Acho said. "The club also helps with prepping for special occasions and connecting people to talent agencies."

The Fashion Club is a way for people to share their passion and to express themselves and their style, said Airman 1st Class Dylan Miller, 4th Component Maintenance Squadron electrical and environmental technician. To branch out, the club reaches out to organizations and members of the surrounding community not only to entertain, but to spread awareness to local issues.

"Wearing any military uniform is an honor; however we are all individuals and our art of self-expression is sometimes spoken through the clothing outside of this uniform that we choose to wear," said Staff Sgt. Nicole Grier,  4th CS knowledge management noncommissioned officer in charge. "Fashion is not always high-end clothing or even what others may consider what's in season. It's your personality spoken without words. The fashion club embraces all personalities, ideas, and any opportunity to bring awareness to the mental, spiritual, physical, and social pillars of resiliency."
