The Oasis Airmen Ministry Center re-opened its doors to members of Team Seymour, Nov. 21, at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina.

The Oasis, which is sponsored by the Chaplain Corps and collocated with the Southern Eagle Dining Facility, underwent several renovations, including additions of a new mural and flat screen TVs, to make the center a more fun environment for Airmen. It also offers a theater room and karaoke room for Airmen to enjoy.

"We just want to let you know that the Oasis Airmen Center is here for you," said Chaplain (Capt.) Jonathan Ayers, 4th Fighter Wing chaplain. "We're going to look at putting out more and more spiritual resiliency programs to support you from the Chaplain Corps."

The grand re-opening was celebrated as an open house. Those who attended were given raffle tickets for a chance to win door prizes, and were able to sign up for tournaments in billiards and ping pong. Other forms of entertainment, such as corn-hole, several TVs and a cookout were available for all those who came out.

"I haven't been here for very long to really see what the Oasis was and what it is now, but today, with the pool tournaments and ping pong tournaments, I believe that's a start to something great," said Senior Airman Brandon Martin, 4th Equipment Maintenance Squadron aerospace ground equipment mechanic. "I believe it will grow."

Martin went on to say he will go to The Oasis more frequently if it gets more Airmen involved and out of the dorms.

The Oasis also provides continuous volunteer opportunities as it is run by Airmen who offer their free time to keep it open.

To volunteer at The Oasis, visit the center and leave your contact information on the volunteer sign-up sheet or call the Chaplain at (919) 722-0315.
