The annual job fair, hosted by the Airman and Family Readiness Center, was held, Oct. 6, at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina, to assist military members, spouses, retirees and any other Department of Defense civilians find new career opportunities.

During the event, the A&FRC helped prepare patrons by offering classes on how to build resumes and prepare for interviews.

"We try to encourage people prior to the job fair to update their resume and review it," said Darlene Rosario, 4th Force Support Squadron employment program manager. "At the Airman and Family Readiness Center, all of us can review resumes. We talk to them about getting their resume ready and interview techniques."

More than 40 employers attended the job fair to both fill job openings within their companies and increase relations with base personnel. Each booth had informative pamphlets and job applications on hand to anyone interested in joining their career field.

Among employers who attended the event were North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Wells Fargo and the Troops to Teachers Program.

"The Troops to Teachers Program is a federal program that aims to help separating service members transition to K-12 education careers," said Doug Taggert, North Carolina Troops to Teacher program coordinator. "I want to make sure transitioning or retiring service members that are interested in K-12 teaching are aware of our program. (Our program) can provide counseling and employment assistance for those eligible for employment as K-12 teachers. Teaching areas include both academic teaching and career technical education areas."

Team Seymour members, via the A&FRC, can get in touch with employers by tapping into social media resources, such as Facebook and LinkedIn.

"We just started a local employment Facebook page, the Make It Better Spouse Employment campaign," Rosario said. "Employers are always looking to recruit military members and military spouses. If they send in their job announcements to us, we can post those on the Facebook page."
