Members of Team Seymour enjoyed live entertainment during a United Service Organizations Show Troupe performance here Oct. 3.

The Show Troupe, made up of five singers and a support team, provided an hour-long set, bringing spectators of all ages to their feet.

The event is part of the USO's mission to show appreciation to service members. The USO Show Troupe performers have Broadway, Off-Broadway, film and TV experience. They annually perform musical entertainment for more than 600,000 service members and families across the globe.

"The USO Show Troupe is a continuation of the entertainment that's been a part of USO's history since its beginning in 1941," said Katherine Beshear, USO Show Troupe performer. "In the old days, Bob Hope used to take the Andrews Sisters and Marilyn Monroe and all kinds of people overseas to see the troops."

According to Beshear, the USO Show Troupe in its incarnation today performs hits from the past as well as contemporary popular music.

"The event today was awesome," said Airman 1st Class Corey Phipps, 4th Force Support Squadron. "They did a great job performing for us and put on a phenomenal show."

Beshear, who has ties to the military by way of her grandparents, said this is a passion for her and she loves to perform.

"I've been a performer my whole life, since I was eight years old when I had my first voice and dance lessons," Beshear said. "We are always happy to do these shows. It's fun for us; it's what we love to do. This is our joy and our passion in life, and just to get to do it for the people who are doing so much for our country is really special."
