Most, if not all base finance offices, are only open during the duty day to assist the majority of customers at their installation. Therefore, any shift workers are missed out.

To combat this issue, the 4th Comptroller Squadron has embedded an Airman with the 4th Operations and Maintenance Groups to meet the needs of recently Team Seymour members who work throughout the night.

"Over half of the base works in both groups with a large portion of those individuals working (night) shifts," explained U.S. Air Force Maj. Jason Purdy, 4th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron commander. "This position was created to provide maximum support to these squadrons that aren't always able to take advantage of the financial support offered."

Senior Airman Alexis Allen, the new 4th AMXS finance liaison, changed her schedule and location to provide the most coverage for the shift workers.

"I'm here to help the maintenance and operations group Airmen with items such as inquiries on pay, permanent change of station (PCS) and defense travel system (DTS) issues, along with anything else as it relates to financial matters," Allen said.

Purdy stated the 4th Comptroller Squadron finance section has done an outstanding job meeting their customers' needs up until this point, and feels this change will assist Seymour Johnson Air Force Base as a whole, by decreasing the wait for finance assistance.

"This benefits the base by allowing our shift workers to take care of their financial needs while on-duty, as opposed to having to come into work early or stay late," Purdy said. "Plus, it streamlines operations within the comptroller squadron to offer more customer service to the rest of Team Seymour."

For any maintenance or operations group Airmen looking for financial help or assistance, a finance Airman will be located at building 4502, and can be contacted at (919)722-8450.

Appointments can be made, but walk-ins are also acceptable.
