VA clinic opens to serve local veterans Published July 31, 2013 By Senior Airman Aubrey White 4th Fighter Wing Public Affairs SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- Leaders from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C., veterans and members of the community came together during a ribbon-cutting ceremony here to celebrate the opening of the Veteran's Affairs Goldsboro Community Based Outpatient Clinic, July 29, 2013. The clinic, which officially opened July 1, 2013 provides local veterans access to primary care services and is located across from Wayne Memorial, one of the two hospitals in Goldsboro, N.C. "We've already heard our veterans say this is a welcome addition to the community," said Robin Demark, Fayetteville VA Medical Center public affairs officer. "The new CBOC will bring health care delivery to a higher level of excellence ... continuing to benefit America's veterans for years to come." Veterans currently assigned to another VA Medical Center can transfer to the new clinic and those not currently receiving health care through the VA are encouraged to begin the registration process. To register, bring a current valid photo ID, DD214 and a VA Form 1010EZ to the clinic. Demark also thanked prominent local figures to include Col. Eleanor Nazar-Smith, 4th Medical Group commander, Congressman G.K. Butterfield, representing North Carolina's 1st Congressional District, Mayor Al King, City of Goldsboro, and Steve Keen, chairman of the County of Commissioners, for attending the ceremony. "It is exciting to see that our veterans will have increased access to local primary and mental health services here in Goldsboro," Col. Eleanor Nazar-Smith said.
