4th FW gears up for Veterans Day parade Published Nov. 1, 2007 By Dr. Roy Heidicker 4th Fighter Wing historian SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- The 2007 Goldsboro Veterans Day Parade will take place Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. in downtown Goldsboro. The parade route begins at Center St. and Elm St., goes around the circle, back down Center St to Walnut St., James St. and back to Elm St. The 4th Fighter Wing will contribute vehicles and personnel to the parade. The explosive ordnance disposal flight will have their new vehicle and robot. The fire department and fuels management flight will also showcase their vehicles. The base will provide a forty-member marching flight. If you or your organization on base wants to be in the parade, contact the parade base coordinator, Senior Master Sgt. Larry Polite, at 722-1053, as soon as possible. All of the local high school marching bands and ROTC units are anticipated to be in the parade. If you like fun, music, friendly people, marching bands, bagpipes and great times, bring the whole family to the parade. The grand marshall for this year's parade will be State Representative Louis Pate. Distinguished guests will include State Senator John H. Kerr, III, Goldsboro Mayor Al King, Colonel Steve Kwast, 4th FW commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Layton Clark, 4th FW command chief. If you have been to the parade previously, we look forward to seeing you there again. If you have never been, come on out and have a great time. What a combination - Goldsboro, the 4th FW, marching bands, smiling people and happy children. Life just doesn't get any better!
