Student’s interest in math, science soars with STARBASE
John Davis, 10, prepares to push the button that will launch his rocket as Tanya Grady counts down to launch during the final day of the Science and Technology Academies Reinforcing Basic Aviation and Space Exploration Program at Greenwood Middle School in Goldsboro, N.C., June 22, 2012. Through STARBASE, upcoming fifth graders visit the base each day to learn about topics ranging from compass reading to tools used for weather prediction and will witness the laws of motion in action. John is the son of JoAnn and Lee Davis, residents of Goldsboro. Grady is a STARBASE instructor. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Tammie Moore/Released)
