Setting the holidays ablaze

Airman 1st Class Clayton Rice uses a candle to set fallen pine needles on fire to demonstrate what can happen if a live Christmas tree is not properly cared for on Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C., Dec. 14, 2011. Pine sap is extremely flammable and if a tree does not have enough water and gets too hot, the tree can catch fire. Rice, 4th Civil Engineer Squadron firefighter, is a native of Cheyenne, Wyo.
