Playing with Fire
Staff Sgt. Matthew Cooper, 4th Civil Engineer Squadron Explosive Ordnance Disposal flight supply NCOIC, describes the properties of different explosive charges and the process of aiming them to Col. Patrick Doherty, 4th Fighter Wing commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Blake Malpass, 4 FW command chief, before placing and detonating charges on the EOD range at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C., Oct. 25, 2011. The charges are used to remove the base plate containing the fuse of larger munitions to disarm them for removal to a safe disposal site.
