NDI digs between the lines
Airman 1st Class Travis Pretzer prepares to test an oil sample from an F-15E Strike Eagle using a Spectroil Oil Analysis machine at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C., Oct. 6, 2011. Airmen at the 4th Equipment Maintenance Squadron non-destructive inspection (NDI) flight perform tests on engine oil samples of every aircraft flown at Seymour Johnson to ensure proper fuel chemical levels. Samples are submitted to NDI within 70 minutes of an aircraft landing on the runway and the results are submitted to crew chiefs, letting them know if the sample was normal or if further tests need to be done on the engine. Pretzer is an NDI specialist from Saginaw, Mich. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Marissa Tucker)
