Airman of the month
Second Lt. Aaron Velasco, a contract specialist with the 4th Contracting Squadron, believes serving one’s country is an honor that is indescribable. He hails from Copperas Cove, Texas, and has been in the Air Force for one year. Velasco joined the Air Force to continue the legacy of his father, who was in the Air Force until his passing. He contributes to the mission by awarding and managing commodities and service contracts in support of 39 4th Fighter Wing and tenant units. His favorite aspect of his job is working and interacting with the personnel at the contracting squadron. So far, Velasco’s most memorable moment was his appointment as a lead buyer for the 2011 Wings Over Wayne Air Show here, where he secured fuel contracts for all aircraft, rental cars and static displays for the event.
