Airman returns to duty after illness
SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. - Senior Airman Colton Brown holds his daughter as he talks to his friend, Senior Airman Erving Perkins at the parachute building here, Jan. 28, 2010. While deployed to Joint Base Balad, Iraq, in September 2010, Airman Brown developed a very rare condition causing fluid to surround his heart and lungs. He was medically evacuated to Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Md., where Airman Perkins was stood by his side until he his discharge. Airman Brown plans to return to full duty in mid-February. Both Airmen are aircrew flight equipment technicians with the 4th Operations Support Squadron. Airman Brown hails from Hampton, Ohio, and Airman Perkins is from Beacon, N.Y.
