5 defenders earn recognition for deployment efforts
SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. – Maj. Jim Alves presents Senior Airman Michael Hampton an Air Force Achievement Medal here Aug. 6, 2010. Airman Hampton deployed to the 451st Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron, at Kandahar Air Base, Afghanistan. In this role, as a turret gunner, he provided over-watch securing the patrol base during joint counterinsurgency operations. He was also selected to train 25 agents and security force members on the M2 .50-caliber machine gun. Major Alves is the 4th Security Force Squadron commander.
