SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- Airman 1st Class David Rankin marshals a forklift driven by Staff Sgt. Byron Faidherbe as a pallet is removed from the Personnel Deployment Facility here June 8, 2010. Airmen place cargo, such as this load of mobility bags, on standard-sized pallets, which are covered in plastic and secured with straps before being weighed, inspected and loaded onto aircraft. Marshallers ensure safe movement of pallets by directing heavy equipment operators with verbal and hand signals. Although assigned as an augmentee during the exercise, Airman Rankin is a fuels maintainer for the 4th Component Maintenance Squadron and hails from Waterford, Ohio.
