FORT FISHER RECREATION AREA, N.C -- Senior Airman Marcus Smith measures out a sheet of siding needed for placement under a cottage window here, April 7, 2010. Fort Fisher was a Confederate fort during the American Civil War. Soldiers stationed here protected the vital trading routes of the Wilmington port from 1861 until captured by the Union in 1865.
