Chief Recognition Ceremony
At a round table stands a lone place setting that honors those missing, killed in action and prisoners of war at a Chief Recognition Ceremony on Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C., Feb. 13, 2010. A white table cloth symbolizes the purity of motives of those called to duty, a single rose is a reminder of the life of those missing and the faith of those awaiting answers, a slice of lemon symbolizes the bitter fate of those captured and missing in foreign land, a pinch of salt signifies the tears of those missing and their families who seek answers, an inverted glass for the inability to share the evening's toast and the chair is empty for they are missing.
