Operational Readiness Exercise

An Airman prepares baggage for transportation during a training exercise at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C., March 12, 2009. The exercise, which is the first phase of an operational readiness exercise, tests a unit's ability to organize and deploy their Airmen on short notice. As part of the exercise, Airmen packed their bags as if it were an actual deployment. Rapid global mobility, the ability to respond quickly and decisively anywhere needed, is one of the Air Force's distinctive capabilities. (U.S. Air Force Photo by Airman 1st Class Rae A. Perry)
