Prepare for lift off
Airmen lift an F-86 Sabre aircraft over the perimeter gate, Feb. 20, 2014, at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C. The Sabre was originally designed as a high-altitude day-fighter, but was subsequently redesigned into an all-weather interceptor and a fighter-bomber used by the 4th Fighter Wing in the Korean War. It was discontinued from active use in 1956. Airmen from the 4th EMS will restore the aircraft, which belongs to the Goldsboro Police Department, during the next few months to fix structural and cosmetic flaws. Once completed, the aircraft will be returned to the city for display. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Brittain Crolley)
