Buzz on Base: What does Veteran's Day mean to you?

Ret. Lt. Col. George O'Neal, grandfather of U.S. Air Force Maj. Amber Millerchip, 4th Fighter Wing public affairs chief, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his heroic actions during World War II. He was strafing enemy Japanese boats off the coast of New Guinea in an A-20 Havoc aircraft. After his right engine was hit, he made a controlled crash in the water. Afterward, he and his crew swam to shore, then escaped and evaded enemy forces to make it to friendly territory. (Courtesy photo)
