Prayers for pets

U.S. Air Force Chaplain (Capt.) Jesus Navarrete, 4th Fighter Wing chaplain, recites a passage from the Bible during the Blessing of Pets ceremony at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C., Oct. 24, 2013. According to Navarrete, it is customary for animals to be prayed over during October in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals, who had a love for all creatures. More than 20 cats and dogs attended the ceremony with their owners. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Aubrey White)
