4th FW remembers youngest American WWII ace
Dr. Roy Heidicker, 4th Fighter Wing historian, shows a display of a P-51 Mustang to Thomas Nash, grandson of retired Col. Van Chandler, during his visit to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C., Aug. 5, 2013. Chandler flew the Mustang during World War II and at 19-years-old became the war’s youngest ace, a pilot credited with five or more aerial victories, having four ground and five confirmed aerial kills.
