Rapid Deployment: Exercise tests base’s mission readiness
During the first phase of exercise Thunderdome 17-02 held on July 19-21, 2017, at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina, Airmen simulating a short-notice deployment were identified, medically cleared, equipped with any necessary gear and briefed on all information needed to conduct operations in the simulated area of responsibility. Once the Airmen and the cargo were processed, the exercise moved into phase two where 16 F-15E Strike Eagles and their associated aircrew simulated leaving for the undisclosed deployed location.
