A three-hour boot camp challenge was held at the fitness center here to test the level of participants' endurance, June 9.

The challenge consisted of circuit training and cycling on a stationary bike. Both sessions lasted 30 minutes in the first hour, then 15 minutes each hour for the remainder of the contest.

"I am very excited by the turnout," said Mike Unden, 4th Force Support Squadron military fitness specialist. "It's really nice to see the top notch athleticism of the Airmen who have really been pushing themselves for the last year."

The circuit training portion consisted of one minute exercises working abdominal and upper and lower body muscle groups. In addition, cycling was performed on a stationary bike.

Contestants who failed to maintain consistent motion for five seconds were eliminated.

"It was very challenging," said Chief Master Sgt. Timothy Erdmann, 916th Maintenance Squadron superintendent. "It's a great way to test your stamina and fit to fight level and it's great working out with coworkers and peers."

After 2 hours, 47 minutes, Senior Master Sgt. Timothy Moreland, 916th Aerospace Medicine Squadron health services superintendent, won the competition.

"I am extremely pleased," Moreland said. "I came in here hoping to do my best, so coming in first is just icing on the cake. At the end my shoulders were giving out but I wasn't about to give up."
